The outgoing president Bush Jr has been rated with devastating results for the last decade of US presidency. (see here). If each one of us were rated based on what we did or did not do for the past year, how would we fare ? Maybe if we had time , we could pass handouts or setup an online survey for the people we had conenctions or liasons with over the past year and see if our results compared with our past successes or failures need a pepping-up or a standing-down ovation.
For the oncoming new year, what do you hope to see ? For me, in terms of upcoming and new emerging technologies: i would like to see in 2009 - just six of them:
- - cheaper solar cells and hydrogen energy capsules to powerup everyday electrical appliance
- - ability to have services startup differently for user profiles instead of centrally controlled services (usually administrator based)
- - ease of use of VMWare in expanding virtual disk size (together with OS recognition of disksize expansion) instead of wholescale migration.
- - RSS link for cityrail info (I doubt very much the realisation of this, trust me !)
- -More profileration of ISO and virtual VMDK images with applications like SQL, Oracle, Net monitoring tools, instead of plain OS images.
- -Greater number of acquisitions of job agencies so that less agencies to contend with, job databases can be centralised and unprofessional recruitment agents be eliminated to cater to the needs of people out there who are desperate for a job and having issues searching.
Anyway, here's a happy and hopefully successful new year to one and all !
