Clear and present danger

With my recent post on the ATM bandits saga, there is now a clear and imminent present danger which may hit the streets - and that is to do with identity theft. In this article from Security Focus, the dangers of RFID are addressed especially for people who are carrying biometric passports and credit cards. RFID is susceptible to a short distance While authorities are still insisting that this technology is safe, it might be worthwhile to invest on a simple RFID wallet with aluminium strips as described here. Afterall, RFID is remotely susceptible just as WIFI wireless.

There is an interesting read here on the WWII events which led to the fall of Singapore. The 8 Division AIF which landed in SG via Queen Mary on Feb 18, 1941 held a memorial service last Sunday (15th Feb) in Sydney Martin place.

Animalistic journalism

First there was the whale Colin, then there was Sam, the koala, survivor of the Victorian bushfire.. now there's the dolphin Nari who is making news headlines , after having survived a shark attack. It seems that australian journalism have taken to cover news of the animal kingdom of which there are safer stories to report on rather than going around to cover stories of humans in which touch violence may be involved. I sometimes can't help to wonder why crocs, monitor lizards and sharks are not covered as news since they form part of the ecological chain too.

obama hits a bummer

It seems that Bush loves "DOS"(Doors) while Obama loves "Windows". Both seems to be ardent fans of Microsoft.
